Peace and Justice Committee announces:
Book Discussion on Greg Mortensen's "Three Cups of Tea"

Celebrate "International Peace Day" by attending a book discussion on Greg Mortenson's "3 Cups of Tea" sponsored by the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Bellport at the South Country Library. Open to the public.

The books were already distributed at the 7/18/10 UU Bellport service and are also available at most libraries. It is even offered in audio form, junior adult, and children's versions.

For those who received a book, remember to pass the book to each other so that everyone has a chance to read it. The co-author, Mortenson, is well acquainted with tribal culture and practices goodwill relations in Pakistan and Afghanistan. He works with the tribal leaders to build schools for girls.

Meeting schedule soon to be announced!

The South Country Library is not equipped to schedule meetings, only events, so an event got scheduled before the meeting. Eve graciously agreed to host our P&J meetings at her house after she returns from her summer sojourn and the first official meeting will be scheduled when she returns. In the meantime, the deadline to reserve 9/21/2010, the International Peace Day, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM for a P & J program was fast approaching and needed to be booked fast. When a stroke of luck donated 6 of Mortenson's books to the Bellport Unitarian Fellowship the same week Mortenson's book made a headline in the 7/18/10 NY Times, it was a "sign" to have a book discussion and possible short film on his book be the first program offered.
